On May 18, DSIC, CSTC, the two subsidiaries of CSSC, and China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd(CMES) of China Merchants Group signed the construction contract of two 307,000 DWT crude oil carriers in Beijing, Hong Kong and Dalian in the form of "cloud signing". The successful signing of this project will further expand the fleet scale of CMES and enhance the market share and popularity of DSIC in global VLCC market. Sun Wei, deputy general manager of CSSC, Wang Hong, deputy general manager of China Merchants Group, Xie Chunlin, chairman of CMES, Li Hongtao, chairman of CSTC, Yang Zhizhong and Zhang Yuhuan, leaders of DSIC, attended the signing ceremony.
The two VLCCs signed this time are the additional orders following the signing of four VLCCs between CMES and DSIC in last November. The VLCC orders of DSIC headquarter have exceeded 100. Air lubrication system will be installed on No. 99 crude oil tanker of 307000dwt signed in this contract for the first time, and the new generation self-developed sail boosting system will be used on No. 100 crude oil tanker.
China Merchants Group is an important strategic partner of CSSC. The two sides have always maintained close cooperation and achieved fruitful results in many projects. CMES of China Merchants Group, which operates and manages China's oldest and most experienced ocean tanker fleet, is the leading operator of super tanker fleet in greater China region and a major participant in domestic LNG import projects. Its scale ranks among the world's leading shipping enterprises. Up to now, DSIC headquarter has undertaken orders for 30 large-scale vessels from CMES, including 2 product oil tankers of 110,000dwt, 5 bulk carriers of 180,000dwt and 23 super large crude oil carriers of 300,000dwt. At present, 26 vessels have been successfully delivered and 4 are under construction.
In current competitive ship market, DSIC and CMES continue to deepen strategic cooperation to achieve win-win development.
